Lake Traverse is the southernmost body of water in the Hudson Bay watershed of North America. It lies along the border between the states of Minnesota and South Dakota. A low continental divide separates the land at the southern shore of Lake Traverse from the Little Minnesota River, which is part of the Mississippi River system and flows within a mile of the lake near the town of Browns Valley.
Lake Traverse Estates is located on Hwy 27 between Browns Valley and Wheaton, Minnesota at mile marker 7. It is about a 15-20 minute drive to the golf
course in Wheaton and the Dakota Connection Casino in Sisseton, South Dakota. Being a border lake, the fishing oppener is earlier by 2-3 weeks!
